About Me

I am a South New Jersey Native currently based between South Jersey, NYC, and Albany, NY. When I began sewing, what had first started as curiosity quickly became a years long practice seated in passion and identity. I began volunteering in late 2019 putting my knowledge to work altering clothes for theater productions in my local community. Since 2021, I have worked both professionally and volunteer as a stitcher, designer, and member of wardrobe crews, gaining experience with both independent and collaborative production environments. These opportunities have allowed me to further develop my skills, challenge ideas, and learn from other creatives in the space.

I am currently pursuing a dual degree in Biology and Theatre at the University at Albany, with an expected graduation in 2027. Throughout my time I have worked on numerous academic productions using the skills I learn to further assist in the development of my designs and construction of various costumes. I have additionally began working as a Teaching Assistant in the Costume Shop teaching and assisting other students with their work and showing them how to alter garments for our productions.

My work is heavily influenced by queer art and history. I am particularly interested in how clothing can act as a symbol of resistance, self-definition, and political rebellion. I view garments not just as clothing pieces, but as tools that can be reclaimed, reinterpreted, and reinvented; used to question gender norms, defy what society perceives as masculine or feminine and reimagine the body in space. Drawing from my own experience and using the stories and shared knowledge of others to inspire my creative process and build designs shaped on community.

My process is about community, the rich history of clothing and how differently each person uses their garments to express themselves. That intersection with theater and design builds a foundation of inquisitive knowledge where costumes can be used not only to support the story but also the actor and the journey each goes on with their character every night.
